Three school records fall at Skyhawk Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomores Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) and Brian Sullivan (Hingham, Mass.) all set school records to lead the Bryant University track and field team to an outstanding showing at the Skyhawk Invitational on Friday.

The Bulldog men to a third-place finish with a point total of 113.50. The women finished fifth with 75 points.

Chapruet broke the school record in the 5000 with a time of 15:08.91, surpassing Caleb Paul's 2006 record of 15:09.71. Hayes continued to rewrite the record books as she broke a 20-year school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.26. Melissa Roberts had set the record back in 1994 with a time of 1:03.4. Sullivan broke a 10-year old school record in the discus with a throw of 156'2". It broke Mike Nessralla's 2004 record of 149'3".

HIGHLIGHTS

Kevin Louine (Mattapan, Mass.) finished third in both the 100 (11.13) and the 200 (22.45).

Kyle Reid (North Raynham, Mass.) finished fourth in the 200 with a time of 22.54. Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) was right behind him with a time of 22.78, finishing seventh.

Three Bulldogs finished in the top eight in the 400. Douglas finished fourth (49.92), Antonio Siracusa (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished fifth (50.49) and Daniel Donohue (New Bedford, Mass.) finished seventh (50.79).

Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) and Blake Fenwick (Thomaston, Conn.) finished fifth (15:32.18) and sixth (15:35.55), respectively, in the 5000.

Ronald Hill (New Bedford, Mass.) finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.23.

The men's 4x100 relay team finished first with a time of 42.13, qualifying for the NEICAAA meet.

Peter Alie (Stoneham, Mass.) finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.95m.

John Somers (Wallingford, Conn.) finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.20m.

Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 6.19m.

Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.) finished seventh in the shot with a throw of 13.55m and second in the hammer (49.92m).

Casey Mackisey (Warwick, R.I.) and Adam Smith (Sussex, N.J.) finished 4-5 in the hammer with throws of 42.17m and 38.35m.

Joseph Schwab finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 51.65m.

Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) finished eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 13.24.

Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:17.99.

Martha Reynolds (London, England) ran to a fifth-place finish in the 1500 with a time of 4:39.41.

Staci Rezendes (Ludlow, Mass.), Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) and Brittany Saraza (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished 2-4 in the 5000.

Katelyn Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) won the hammer with a throw of 44.57m. She also finished sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 34.18m.

Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) finished second in the hammer with a throw of 44.36m.
