Warden Leads Bulldogs on First Day of NEC's

STATEN ISLAND, NY- Bryant track and field sophomore Lois Warden led the Bulldogs on the first day of the NEC Indoor Track Championships, winning gold in the pole vault and setting a new school record in the process. Lily Lagoy and Abigail Hamilton also placed top five in the shot put and 3000m finals, respectively.

The women's team is tied for fourth with 22 points after Day 1, just two points behind Central Connecticut in first. The men scored just three points, but had seven runners qualify out of today's prelims.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

Women

  • Warden set another new school record with a 3.70 in the pole vault finals, but had to go into a jump-off after tying with Mount Saint Mary's Rachel Finn. Warden's vault of 3.50 in the jump-off secured her the gold.

  • Lily Lagoy came fifth in the shot put with a distance of 12.52 meters. It's her best career result at the Indoor Championships.

  • Abigail Hamilton ran a 10:16.29 to finish fifth in the 3000 meters. Julia Ayres also scored a top ten in the event for the Bulldogs, coming seventh.

  • Emma Garrity set the top time in the 500 meter prelims at 1:16.09, nearly a second ahead of second place. Grace Yost (60m hurdles) and Savannah Pineda (400m) also qualified out of today's heats.

Men

  • William Bittrich and Ryan Slaney finished seventh and eighth respectively in the 3000 meters, scoring three points for Bryant. 

  • William Remkiewicz and Andrew Canale set the top two times in the 400 meter prelims. Remkiewicz ran his heat in 48.89, while Canale finished at 49.10.

  • Jason Dolan, Nolan Hickey, and Jordan Dagrin all qualified for tomorrow's mile run finals. Dolan had the seventh best time at 4:21.38, while Hickey was eighth and Dagrin took the final transfer spot in tenth.

  • Aidan Hickey and Owen Molis both qualified for the finals in the 800 meters. Hickey placed fourth (1:56.22) and Molis was eighth (1:56.14).
