Three Gold Medals Lead Bryant at America East Championships

BOSTON, Mass.- Three event titles and eight total medals led the Bryant track and field teams to a pair of top-six overall finishes at the America East Indoor Championships this weekend in Boston. The women placed fourth overall, while the men finished sixth.

Emma Garrity was the Bulldogs' lone individual champion, claiming victory in the 500 meters with a school record time. The men's distance medley and 4x800 relays also took gold, with the DMR quartet of Aidan and Nolan Hickey, Ryan Slaney, and Vincent Sivo also setting a program record.

Lois Warden, John Bruder, Aidan Hickey, Slaney, and the women's 4x400 relay also took home medals during the meet, Overall, the Bulldogs scored points in 22 of 40 events and either broke or tied ten program records.

Bulldog Notes and Notables (Women)

  • Lois Warden started the weekend with a silver medal in the pole vault, breaking her own program record with a height of 3.76 meters. Sydney Golas and Sophie Mirecki gave Bryant three top-five finishers in the event, placing fourth and fifth respectively.

  • Brooke Bock finished eighth in the weight throw with a finals distance of 14.97 meters.

  • Kasey Thomas and Anaya Harris gave the Bulldogs two more points scorers in throwing events, placing fifth and eighth in the shot put. Thomas cracked the top five with a throw of 13.49 meters.

  • Jasmine Hope notched her first points of the weekend with a sixth-place result in the long jump. She set a new program record with a distance of 5.53 meters.

  • The distance medley relay team of Abby Hamilton, Grace Yost, Kayla Ondy, and Jasmine Trott placed fourth with a time of 12:06.52.

  • Hope and Emma Green each scored in the 60 meters, with Hope placing fourth with a time of 7.76 and Green finishing eighth at 7.89.

  • Savannah Pineda recorded her first points of the meet with a 4th place finish in the 400 meters, running a 56.92.

  • Emma Garrity claimed the Bulldogs' first and only individual championship of the meet with a school record time of 1:13.38 in the 500 meters.

  • Ana Bertarelli placed eighth in the 200 meters, crossing the line at 25.43.

  • Ali Kairys, Emma Grzybinski, Marissa Crowley, and Ondy placed fourth in the 4x800, setting a school record with a time of 9:34.05.

  • The 4x400 team of Garrity, Bertarelli, Yost, and Pineda combined for a school record and fourth-place finish to close the meet, crossing the line at 3:50.26.

Bulldog Notes and Notables (Men)

  • Mason Jones scored Bryant's first points on the men's side placing fourth in the pole vault at 4.45 meters.

  • The distance medley relay team of Aidan Hickey, Nolan Hickey, Ryan Slaney, and Vincent Sivo won Bryant's first gold of the meet, doing so with a program record time of 9:49.94.

  • Mike Marshall, Jr. tied his own program record in the high jump, placing fourth at 1.96 meters.

  • John Bruder brought home a silver in the shot put, smashing the program record with a throw of 16.17 meters.

  • The Hickey brothers continued their success in individual events. Aidan earned bronze in the 800 with a time of 1:53.53, while Nolan set a school record and placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:08.58.

  • Ethan Ferraiola placed sixth in the 400 meters, clocking in at 49.07.

  • Will Remkiewicz placed fifth in the 500, running a time of 1:05.43.

  • Ryan Slaney took Bryant's final individual medal, earning silver in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:24.75.

  • The 4x800 relay team of Aidan and Nolan Hickey, Tobias Ruffo, and Luke Silva took gold with a school record time of 7:42.10.

  • The 4x400 quarter of Ferraiola, Remkiewicz, Sivo, and Sam Rebello closed the meet with a fifth-place finish, crossing the line at 3:17.43.
