Bryant enters Day 2 of ECC Championships as No. 6 seed

CORAM, N.Y. -- The Bryant University women's bowling team will enter the double-elimination portion of the East Coast Conference Championships as the No. 6 seed following Friday's qualifying rounds. 

Bryant amassed a total pinfall of 4525 in five baker matches on Friday, claiming the No. 6 seed out of 10. Mercyhurst averaged 201.2 per game to earn the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs will face No. 3 seed Daeman on Saturday morning in the first round of the double-elimination tournament. 

How it Happened

  • Bryant opened against Daeman, falling 965-899. 
  • The Bulldogs fell to Kutztown, 914-876, and D'Youville, 934-813.
  • Bryant then had one of its best games of the season vs eventual top seed Mercyhurst, falling 1051-1025.
  • Bryant closed qualifying with a 912-722 win over Saint Anselm. 

What it Means

  • Friday's qualifying matches saw all 10 teams play five baker matches. The teams were then seeded 1-10 based off of total pinfall, regardless of win-loss record.
  • Bryant had a total pinfall of 4525 for an average of 181.0. 
  • The Bulldogs were sixth, just behind D'Youville and Roberst Wesleyan.
  • Bryant will now face Daeman on Saturday and the teams will bowl a baker best-of-seven. 
  • Each team will choose five bowlers and each will bowl two frames of a 10-frame game.
  • The total pinfall of each game will determine who gets the point. The first to four points will win the match.
