Ten Different Goal Scorers Lead Bulldogs to First America East Win

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's lacrosse team got back to their winning ways with an 18-5 win over UMass Lowell on a rainy Saturday at Beirne Stadium. The win was the Bulldogs' first in America East conference play.

Ten different players scored for Bryant, including hat tricks from Kenna Kaut, Emily Oliver, and Riley O'Mara. Ashlyn Watkins also made her first career start in goal, saving six shots against four goals allowed in three quarters between the pipes.

How it Happened

Q1: Things got off to a hot start despite the unpleasant conditions, with the two teams netting a pair of goals each in the opening four minutes of play. An Oliver goal put Bryant up 3-2 at the 10:57 mark, a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. It was also the second of a 10-0 Bulldog run that stretched into halftime.

Q2: Kaut scored back-to-back goals to open the second quarter, giving her a hat trick less than twenty minutes into the game. Amelia Piercy and Oliver combined for three more to give the Bulldogs a nine-goal lead heading into the break. Bryant dominated defensively in the second, limiting UML to three shots on goal and forcing four turnovers.

Q3: The River Hawks scored twice to cut the lead to seven early in the third, but Kaut responded with her fourth goal to kickstart another Bryant run. Emma Wymes scored shortly after, followed by Abigail Bellport and Riley O'Mara, who each scored their first goals as Bulldogs.

Q4: O'Mara and Peyton Woodward made up most of the Bryant offense in the fourth, combining for three goals and an assist in a four goal quarter for the Bulldogs. The defense was stout again to close the game, forcing three UML turnovers and holding the River Hawks to just two shots on goal.
