Bulldogs win, 1-0, on Senior Day

WOMEN'S SOCCER SCORES IN 85TH MINUTE TO TOP ROBERT MORRIS, 1-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After 85 minutes of scoreless play, two Bulldogs connected on the lone score of the match, lifting the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory over Robert Morris on a rainy Senior Day 2012.

Junior Alyssa Kozlowski (Elliot City, Md.) crossed the ball from the left side of the pitch into the box to a streaking Krista Johnstone (Dover, N.H.) to beat Colonials keeper Rebekah Schoenecker.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 10-8 overall on the season, and more importantly 5-4 in the Northeast Conference with only one match remaining on their 2012 slate.

Bryant applied steady pressure on the visitors throughout the contest, outshooting Robert Morris, 15-5, and earning seven more corner kicks. Senior Kaitlyn Fare (Millstone Township, N.J.) put numerous well-placed balls into the box, but the Colonial defense stood tough.

In the second half, the Bulldogs had two shots turned away by Schoenecker, who played exceptional between the pipes for Robert Morris. Early in the half, senior Jessica MacAndrew (Coventry, R.I.) fired a strike toward the net that was stopped by a diving Schoenecker. Just a few minutes later, classmate Regan Marin (Bedford, N.Y.) headed a shot attempt inside the box that was just tipped over the goal by the RMU keeper.

"It is certainly good to get the victory," said Bryant head coach Chris Flint. "Their goalkeeper made a few unbelievable saves and it was one of those situations where you keep thinking 'when's it going to happen' and we had a great service and finish to get the goal."

With only one match remaining on its 2012 schedule, Bryant's playoff hopes are still alive as they look to advance to their first postseason as a Division I program.
