Bulldogs drop another tough one, Wed. at Brown

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite firing six shots in the final 45 minutes of the match, the Bryant University women's soccer team dropped another tough decision, 1-0, Wednesday night at Brown.

After starting off the month of September with three-straight wins, the Bulldogs close the non-conference portion of their schedule with a trio of losses, falling to 4-7 overall in the process. The Bears improve to an impressive 6-2 on the year with the victory.

After nearly 60 minutes of scoreless soccer, Brown's Kiersten Berg received a beautifully placed through ball from teammate Chloe Cross just in time to tap it past Bryant goalkeeper Kaylan Conrad (Avon, Conn.) for the lone marker of the match.

The Bears outshot the Bulldogs, 16-7, while each team earned a quartet of corner kicks (all four coming in the second half for Bryant). Michelle Durand (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Black and Gold with two shots on goal, with Sarah Schucker (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Melaina Aglieco (Rocky Hill, Conn.) each adding one of their own.

Conrad and senior Lauren Viverito (Dayton, N.J.) combined for six saves in the match, each making three in their one half of work.

With non-conference play over and done with, Bryant will now look to focus its efforts on the eight-game Northeast Conference schedule which kicks off Sunday vs. Sacred Heart at Bulldog Soccer Field (1 p.m.).
