Bulldogs prepare for weekend homestand with Binghamton, St. Bonaventure

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Fresh off of a road victory over Maine, the Bryant University women's soccer team begins a three-game homestand this weekend, with a Friday match against Binghamton at 3:00 p.m. and a Sunday matinee against St. Bonaventure at 1:00 p.m.

Series History with Binghamton

  • This is just the second time the Bulldogs and Bearcats have met, with last year's meeting in Vestal yielding a 1-0 victory for Bryant. Sophomore Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) scored the game-winner in the 74th minute after a ball caromed off her face and left her clean in to beat the keeper.

A bit about the Bearcats

  • The Bearcats stand atop of the America East, coming into Friday's game at 5-1-2 on the year and unbeaten in their last three matches, with victories over Iona and Cornell.
  • Binghamton is on stop four of a seven-game road trip, in which those wins over Iona and Cornell were also accompanied by a draw at Lafayette on September 7.
  • They are led by Kayla Saager, who, going into Thursday's games, was Top 10 in the country in points (16) and goals (6). Ryan Reilly is second on the team with three goals and six points.
  • In net, Katie Hatziyianis is allowing less than a goal per game with a 0.98 GAA and a .814 save percentage. Her lone clean sheet of the season was recorded in their last game against Cornell.

Series History with St. Bonaventure

  • This is also just the second time that the Bulldogs have faced the Bonnies. The Bryant goal in a 2-1 defeat in 2016 came from junior Cayla D'Amico (Grafton, Mass.) in the 56th minute.

  • The Bonnies enter Thursday without a win on the season at 0-6-1, with their tie coming against UMass Lowell.
  • St. Bonaventure's only goal on the season came in their opener at Binghamton, when Marley Jarvis scored 93 seconds into the game.
  • Bella May has been the team's most dangerous attacker with a team-high 10 shots.

  • The Bulldogs enter Thursday's action in the Top 50 in the NCAA in five different categories, including fouls per game (9th), Win-Loss-Tied percentage (41st), Goals Against Average (42nd), Save Percentage (44th) and Shutout Percentage (49th).
  • Bryant will be looking for its third victory over an America East opponent on Friday, while it will vie for their second win over an Atlantic 10 team on Sunday.
  • Junior Alison Guilmette (Coventry, R.I.) has tallied three assists in just six games this season, which is tied for fifth in a campaign in the Division I era.
  • Manna has matched her point total from last year in her first six games in 2017, recording two goals and an assist, including points in three consecutive matches.
  • The Bulldogs balanced attack leads the NEC in scoring offense entering Thursday, averaging 1.50 goals per game.
  • Bryant's defense has also been in great form this season, as they enter Thursday with the league's lowest Goals Against Average at 0.67.
