Bulldogs and Bearcats battle to scoreless draw

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer team was not able to score a goal for just the second time all season, as it drew Binghamton in scoreless fashion after an energetic, intense 110 minutes of soccer at the Bulldog Soccer Field Friday afternoon.

Game Information

Bryant 0, Binghamton 0

Records: Bryant 4-1-2, Binghamton 5-1-3

Location: Bulldog Soccer Field

Coach Bigg's Comments

"I think it was a very solid performance on both ends of the field today. I think we defended well and attacked well. We created a lot of opportunities and we were unfortunate not to score at least one … I think it's a really good learning experience for our team, knowing that we can compete and keep our composure in a physical game and more than hold our own."

Key Moment

  • In the 107th minute, defender Alyssa Riccione (Mohnton, Pa.) played a ball into the box to forward Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who had to play it backwards. A cross then found the head of Haley Reddish (Natick, Mass.), who sent it back in Spitaleri's direction, but she was not able to hit it clean and Binghamton's keeper was able to corral it.

Scoring Summary

  • No goals

Stats/Notes

  • Bryant moved to 2-0-2 on the season against America East opponents.
  • The Bulldogs tied their season high with eight corner kicks in the match.
  • Spitaleri recorded four shots with two on frame, increasing her team-high totals in each category to 14 and 9, respectively.
  • Senior Rachel Brightman (Rochester, N.Y.) and freshman Meghan Dalton (West Hartford, Conn.) combined for five saves as the Bulldogs defense recorded their fourth clean sheet of the season.
