WOMEN’S SWIMMING FALLS TO STONY BROOK ON SENIOR DAY, DEBEVER SHATTERS MULTIPLE RECORDS

WOMEN’S SWIMMING FALLS TO STONY BROOK ON SENIOR DAY, DEBEVER SHATTERS MULTIPLE RECORDS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) paced Bryant with a historical record-breaking performance, but it would not be enough to overcome the Stony Brook offensive, as the Bulldogs dropped their senior day matchup with the Seawolves, 178.0-84.0, Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.

DeBever had an exceptional performance for the Black and Gold, as the Colorado native shattered three pool records and set two new school marks en route to her most dominant performance this season. The Frosh started out with a pool-record 1:54.10 mark in the 200-yard freestyle, giving DeBever her second school record this season. DeBever followed up her opening race with a pool-record 53.27 mark in the 100-yard freestyle and a first-place finish, her second in as many races. The freshman would conclude her individual events with a school- and pool-record 2:12.01 mark in the 200-yard individual medley.

Countering Bryant's freshman standout was Stony Brook's Renee Deschenes who recorded an equally impressive record-setting day. Deschene's set a new pool-record in the 100-yard backstroke with a 57.52 mark and a new standard in the 200-yard backstroke with her time of 2:04.71.

Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) also generated a solid performance for the Black and Gold, taking fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, third in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 2:00.66, 25.57, 1:02.74 respectively.

Saturday's meet marked the final home competition for Jill Squillante (Sayville, N.Y.), Lisa Zanchi (North Reading, Mass.), Kerry Timulty (Randolph, Mass.), Cassandra Fostik (Neshanic Station, NJ ) and Amy Howell (Clifton Park, N.Y.), as the Bulldogs will finish out their season with a road trip to Dartmouth, then Holy Cross before the Northeast Conference Championships in February.
