Bulldogs open league play with home opener vs. Knights, Saturday at 11 a.m.
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team opens Northeast Conference play at home against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Bulldogs (2-5) enter the matchup after a 1-2 finish in Orlando, where they swept Minnesota State at Moorhead, 7-0, but fell to Albany, 6-1, and Bucknell, 4-3. Sophomore Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden) has been playing well for the Bulldogs, going 2-1 in singles play in Orlando and will be a key matchup for the Black and Gold in the No. 2 singles slot.
The Knights (3-2) were swept in their latest match, 7-0, by Quinnipiac, but prior to the loss, won three-straight. In two of their most impressive wins this season, FDU conquered Bucknell, 5-2, and Saint Peter's by the same margin. Nicole Chis is a strong competitor for the Knights, sitting 7-6 on the year and 3-2 in the No. 1 singles spot, finding her victories in correlation to the team's wins.
