SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team ran its winning streak to three games with a hard-fought 5-2 victory over Siena on Saturday afternoon in Latham, N.Y.

"We lost to them 4-3 last year and I am proud of the girls for coming back this year and getting the win. Yesterday's match was really physical, so today we had to regroup and focus on getting through it while keeping our errors to a minimum."

HOW IT HAPPENED (DOUBLES)

  • No. 1 – Seniors Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) and Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) gave Bryant a quick lead, cruising to a 6-2 victory over Kylie Mullaney and Anessa Leyva.
  • No. 2 – Senior Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a thrilling 7-6 (6-4) victory over Nanea Perkins and Natalie Weaver.
  • No. 3 – Ivana Boberic and Ann Phillips made things interesting by tying up the doubles portion with a 6-3 win over Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) and Gabrielle Bergeron (Quebec, Canada).

HOW IT HAPPENED (SINGLES)

  • No. 1 – Campfield secured the Bryant victory with a straight-set victory over Boberic. She won the first, 7-5, before posting a dominant 6-0 win in the second set.
  • No. 2 – Mullaney briefly tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Sjoberg.
  • No. 3 – Weaver scored the first point of singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Luiggi.
  • No. 4 – Arroyo put the Bulldogs on the verge of victory with a 6-2, 7-6 (2-0).
  • No. 5 – Oropeza gave Bryant a 2-1 lead with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory.
  • No. 6 – Sophomore Aleksi Gottlieb (Plantation, Fla.) capped the Bulldogs victory with a thrilling three-set victory over Leyva. She won the first set, 6-1, lost the second, 6-4, and rebounded to win the third, 6-4.
