ALBANY, N.Y.– The Bryant women's volleyball team won the second game of their three game road trip against the University at Albany in 4 sets on Friday night in four sets. The Bulldogs improve to 12-8 on the year and are now .500 in conference play.

COACH GARLACY'S COMMENTS

"We came to battle tonight and Josie put us on her back and willed us to finish.  The setters ran a balanced offense and our hitters did a great job finishing the ball."

HOW IT HAPPENED (at UAlbany)

  • Set 1- The Great Danes took advantage early in the first set thanks to a 7-1 run and stellar play from Woroniuk and Harris. Bryant would attempt to make a comeback bid but to no avail and fall 25-19 to open play. Aubrey Lapour and Miranda Jantzen each had 3 kills in the set and Carolina Camacho posted 7 assists.

  • Set 2-  After battling through a close early second round, the Bulldogs would find their rhythm and would go on an incredible offensive run thanks to critical kills from Miranda Jantzen, Arianna Ugolini, and Melis Isik. London Hunt and Brookelyn Talmadge would put the match away with kills of their own and Bryant would tie up the match with a set two victory following a Sthefany Carvalho service error.Lapour would tally another 4 kills in the second; hitting .600.

  • Set 3- The Black and Gold would ride their momentum into the next set and establish a commanding lead. Despite UAlbany's best efforts to hang in Bryant would close out the set on three consecutive kills from Lapour and Ugolini to win 25-14. Lea Mackey and London Hunt each had multiple block assists in the third and Lapour and Ugolini combined for 10 kills.

  • Set 4- In the final set, the Bulldogs and Danes would play incredibly close. UAlbany would take a 10-7 lead but Bryant would storm back and tie the score at 12 with the help of 3 Ugolini kills. The Bulldogs would pull ahead for good after a run of aces from Josie Deluga. Bryant would win the set 25-19 to secure their first conference victory of the season. Deluga would finish the set with 3 aces and Morgan Smith hit 1.000 with 3 kills.
