Hurley leads men to second-place finish

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) and sophomore Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland) both earned top-10 finishes to lead the Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams at the Brown University Rothenberg Invitational Friday afternoon.

Hurley paced five Bulldogs runners with a ninth-place finish, and three other runners finished within the top-15 as Bryant edged out the University of Rhode Island to claim second place. Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.), Jeffrey Dorosh (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.) all finished within six seconds of each other, claiming 11-13.

After missing the New England Championships last weekend, Black picked up right where she left off at the Ted Owen Invitational, leading the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in a time of 18:36.1. It is the third-straight top-10 finish for Black. A week after leading the Bulldogs across the line, sophomore Lauren Ganim (Trumbull, Conn.) was second across the line with a time 20:19.9, breaking her personal-best time for the second-straight week. Freshman Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) also set a personal-best for the second week in a row, crossing the line with a time of 20:43.2.

The Bulldogs compete in the Central Connecticut mini-meet next Friday, Oct. 21, in New Britain, Conn.
