Women Take First Place at Nassaney Memorial, Men Second

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's cross country team took first place at the season-opening Shawn Nassaney Memorial Invitational, with the men placing second. Freshman Kayla Ondy took sixth place overall for the Bulldogs in her collegiate debut, while graduate student William Bittrich led the men with a second place overall finish.

Coach Switzer's Comments: "This was a very exciting day for our program and a great way to kick off our season. For the women to take the team win on our home course and for the men to finish second with Will runner up was incredible. We still have a long season ahead and a lot more to show but we're in a good place as a team. We'll celebrate the victory and then keep putting in the work as we build through the season. Big thank you to all who came out for the memorial run as well. There was an awesome turnout and the energy was felt throughout the whole morning. It was great to be able to continue the tradition in honoring Shawn. Thank you everyone for the support"

Ondy led a trio of Bulldogs in the top ten, with Abigail Hamilton placing seventh and Casey Curran placing tenth. Chloe Whiting, Myah Kamperides, Morgan Marckres, and Emma Grzybinski rounded out the scorers for the women.

Bittrich placed second, one-tenth of a second behind Stonehill's Colin Black. Nolan Hickey placed 13th for the Bulldogs, followed by Dawson Reynolds, Ryan Slaney, Alex Petruso, Nicholas Brancato, and Justin Shiffrin as points scorers for the Bulldogs.
