Harris, Covitz earn All-New England honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After producing record-breaking performances this fall, Bryant University senior wide receiver Jordan Harris (Lincoln University, Pa.) and junior defensive end Jeff Covitz (Reading, Mass.) were both named All-New England by the New England Football Writers' Association, it was announced on Monday.

It marks the second-straight season that both Harris and Covitz have been named All-New England. Fellow Northeast Conference foes Sacred Heart (3) and Central Connecticut (2) were also represented on the team.

Harris put the finishing touches on one of the greatest careers in Bryant history this past fall. Already the program's all-time leader in receiving yards entering the season, Harris became the NEC's all-time leader mid-way through the year. He caught a program-record 64 passes this season for 1,031 yards and five touchdowns, becoming the first player in school history to record back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons. In NEC history, the 1,000-yard plateau has been broken just seven times with Harris holding the distinction twice. Harris finishes his career with 193 receptions, 3,735 yards and 31 touchdowns, all program records.

A year after emerging as a top-flight defensive end in the FCS, Covitz cemented his spot there this season. He put together a historic season in 2013, finishing with 55 tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks. The 20.5 tackles for a loss were a program record for a single season and he became the program's all-time leader with 43 in his career. Covitz's tackles for a loss and sack totals were also some of the best in the nation as he finished third and ninth, respectively.
