Covitz named an ECAC All-Star

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After putting together one of the most dominating seasons in program history, the postseason honors continue to roll in for junior defensive lineman Jeff Covitz (Reading, Mass.) as he was named an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) FCS All-Star.

The ECAC All-Star teams are comprised of student-athletes from a possible 88 institutions from 17 different conferences. Towson's Terrance West was named the Offensive Player of the Year, James Madison's Stephon Robertson the Defensive Player of the Year, Sacred Heart's R.J. Noel the Offensive Rookie of the Year and Maine's Christopher Mulumba the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Covitz was the only player from the NEC to make the all-star team.

One of the most dominant defensive linemen in the country, Covitz put up career numbers in 2013. He finished the season with 55 tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks on his way to All-NEC and All-New England honors for the second-straight season. Covitz set single-season and career records for tackles for a loss with 20.5 and 43.0, respectively. He led the NEC in tackles for loss and sacks and was third and ninth nationally in the two categories.
