Bulldogs open league play at St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn this weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I – Coming off a 2-1 victory over Hartwick, the Bryant University men's soccer team looks to continue their streak against Northeast Conference foes St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday at 7 p.m. and LIU Brooklyn on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Last season, the Bulldogs (2-5-2) finished 0-1-1 against St. Francis Brooklyn, losing to the Terriers (7-1-2) in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament. The Black and Gold faced LIU Brooklyn only once last year, overpowering the Blackbirds (3-5-2), 2-1, in overtime in Smithfield.

In their most recent matches, the two conference competitors split games with NJIT, after the Blackbirds routed them, 1-0, at home, while the Terriers were defeated by the Highlanders, 3-2, on the road.

LIU Brooklyn is led offensively by Rasmus Hansen with 12 points off five scores and two helpers. Logan Keys is second to Cole Palmer in total minutes in net, but the keeper received the start against NJIT, tallying 12 saves in four games.

St. Francis Brooklyn attack is headed by Vincent Bezecourt with 11 points of four goals and three assists. Jack Binks has started all ten games between the pipes for the Terriers, logging 27 saves and four goals against.

Senior Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) remains the Bulldogs' total-points leader, with 10 points from four scores and a pair of assists. Sophomore Thomas Binder (Vienna, Austria) recorded his third goal of the season against Hartwick (Oct. 3) and totals eight points with the addition of two assists.

Senior Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) has been a key factor in net for the Bulldogs, helping them to the win over Hartwick, while adding to his 26-save total.
