4x400, Shot Put Highlight Bulldogs' Track and Field Weekend

PHILADELPHIA/AMHERST - The Bryant track and field teams took their talents to multiple states this weekend, with three relays taking part in the Penn Relays and the full squad competing at the Pre-Conference Invitational at UMass Amherst.

The women's 4x400 team of Emma Garrity, Ana Bertarelli, Grace Yost, and Savannah Pineda placed second in the finals of the Collegiate Eastern division at Penn, setting a new school record in the process. John Bruder and Kasey Thomas each took wins in the shot put at UMass.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Garrity, Bertarelli, Yost, and Pineda ran a time of 3:46.66 to take second on Saturday night, the only America East team to qualify for the finals. They also qualified for the ECAC/IC4A Championships with their time.

  • Bruder and Thomas swept the shot put at UMass, tossing the shot 17.67 and 13.53 meters respectively. They both hold the America East's top marks heading into next week's conference championships.

  • Colton Jacques placed second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.07.

  • Zachary Clasby placed third in the long jump at 6.47 meters.

  • Christina Capozzi placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.63.

  • Jackie Prestininzi placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:03.83.
