SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University softball team will be holding a Scout Day clinic on the Bryant University campus August 19 or August 20. The clinic is open for players in grades 9-12.

SOMERSET, NJ – A total of 65 Bryant University student-athletes have been named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, including nine earning Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction. In addition, men’s tennis junior Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and women’s tennis senior Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) were recognized as NEC Spring Scholar-Athletes for 2010.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Vying for the second seed in the Northeast Conference Softball Tournament, the Monmouth University Hawks were able to squeak by the Bryant University softball team in both games of doubleheader action Thursday afternoon at the Bryant Softball Complex. Monmouth nipped the Bulldogs 3-2 in game one and 5-2 in the night cap.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team will conclude its 2010 campaign on Thursday at 2 p.m. when the Bulldogs take on Monmouth University in doubleheader action at the Bryant Softball Complex. The Hawks and Bulldogs previously scheduled meeting was rained out on April 25th.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Playing in its last away series of the 2010 campaign, the Bryant University softball team was unable to upset Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon. The fifth-place Pioneers dropped the Bulldogs 4-2 in the first game and took the nightcap by a slim 1-0 margin.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After falling behind 2-0 after just two innings of play, the Bryant University softball team battled back to defeat The College of the Holy Cross by a margin of 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Freshman Field. The win completes the season-sweep of the Crusaders for the Bulldogs as they defeated the Royal Purple by the exact same score in their BU home-opener.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Emotions ran high in the function room at the Bryant Center on Sunday afternoon as Bryant University head softball coach Lisa-Ann Wallace, her team, their families and their friends all gathered to honor the three members of the 2010 senior class. Sunday’s game with Monmouth may have been rained out, but it certainly did not dampen the spirits at the annual senior day reception.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team was defeated, 9-1, in five innings of play at intrastate rival Brown University on Tuesday afternoon at a rain-soaked Erickson Athletic Complex. The game consisted of approximately a 30-minute rain delay in the middle of the fourth inning.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Due to inclement weather in the Smithfield area, Sunday’s Northeast Conference doubleheader between Bryant University and Monmouth has been postponed until Mother’s Day weekend. An exact time and date has not yet been scheduled. The Bulldogs’ Senior Day festivities will still take place in South Dining Hall in the Bryant Center at 1 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite a great outing for junior tri-captain Sami Houseal (Mount Joy, Pa.) in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, the Bryant University softball team was unable to upset the Northeast Conference’s top-ranked Long Island University at the Bryant Softball Complex. The Blackbirds came from behind in both games to win 3-1 and 8-3, respectively.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team returns to Northeast Conference play this weekend when they host the conference’s top two teams. On Saturday, the Bulldogs will play host to top-ranked Long Island, and then the Hawks of Monmouth University on Sunday. Both doubleheader matchups are scheduled for 12 p.m. starts and will be broadcast live for the first time on Bryantbulldogs.tv. The Black and Gold will also be honoring its three seniors on Sunday between contests.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Leading the Bulldogs to three consecutive wins this past week, Bryant University freshman Brittany Lischinsky (Mahopac, N.Y.) has earned the first-ever Northeast Conference weekly accolade for the Bryant softball program, as she was named the Akadema Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week today by conference officials.
