Bulldogs head to NEC Outdoor Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In what has been a historic spring season, the Bryant University track and field team will look to add another chapter this weekend as they compete in the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Moon Township, Pa.

The Bulldogs are enjoying a phenomenal spring that has seen several records broken and enter this weekend's championships with several athletes ranked in the top 10 across several different disciplines.

Tops among those athletes is sophomore jumper and sprinter Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.). Thanks to a school-record jump of 5.70m at the Friar Invitational, Dempsey enters the weekend as the top ranked long jumper in the conference. Classmate Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) has also put together a fantastic year and is third in the 400m hurdles and ninth in the 400m dash.

OTHER TOP-RANKED ATHLETES

Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.) is seventh in the 5,000 with a time of 15:08.91.

Peter Alie (Stoneham, Mass.) is ranked fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.95m.

John Somers (Wallingford, Conn.) and Hayes Watson (Glastonbury, Conn.) are both ranked in the top 10 in the pole vault. Somers is fourth (4.30m) and Watson is seventh (4.10m).

Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) is 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.62m.

Brian Sullivan (Hingham, Mass.) is ranked second in the discus throw with a school-record distance of 47.60m.

Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.) is fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.76m.

Joseph Schwab is fifth in the javelin with a season-best throw of 54.43m.

Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) is 10th in the 800 with a time of 2:17.99.

Martha Reynolds (London, England) enters the weekend second in the 1500 with a time of 4:39.31.

Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) is fourth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:34.27.

Katelyn Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) and Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.) are both ranked in the top 10 in the hammer. Kelleher is fifth (46.94m) and Harrison is ninth (44.36m).
